Lorenzo Dalla Porta clinches 2nd position at the Chang International Circuit of Buriram and teammate Marcos Ramirez crosses the line the 4th. A very positive Sunday for the Leopard Racing.
It’s been a tough weekend in many senses, but hard work has really paid off. Lorenzo Dalla Porta started the day being the 3rd fastest on the Warm Up and having a lot of motivation ahead of this race. Last year he got the second spot of the podium in this track and knew he could repeat it. The bike worked perfectly and altogether resulted on a really good pack. At 11.00 it was time to push and were the gloves were off, starting from the 9th position of the grid, Lorenzo Dalla Porta commenced to overtake rivals, to recover positions and didn’t need many laps to place himself in front. He managed to keep the leadership of the group, at some moments swapped positions but when someone wanted to take him the first place, he immediately recovered it back. Dalla Porta commanded the race, imposed his pace and was really strong, determined and fast. Just in the last lap, in the last corner, Albert Arenas took him the first position and finally the Leopard rider crossed the line the second. A very important result this weekend, as with 4 races to go, the Italian man keeps the leadership on the general standings and now his immediate rival, Spaniard Aron Canet, is 22 points far.
On the other side of the box, Marcos Ramirez, who started the race from the 2nd position and demonstrated being strong and fast in this track, had a little bit of bad luck during the race. He took the first position on the first lap, but in the middle of the race saw himself relegated to the 6th position position. Ramirez pushed and battled as hard as always, overtook without resentment and gave his best to get to the podium. At some points was possible to dream again on a blue finish characterized by two Leopard riders, but he finally crossed the line the 4th scoring this way very important points. He is now the 4th on the general classification.
It’s been a wrap! The Championship is going to the most exciting and thrilling part of the year, the triplet! We will see you all in Japan in two weeks time, the first of the Asian rounds.
Lorenzo Dalla Porta #48 , 2nd in Thailand (204 points)
“It’s been one of the most difficult races of my life, but from a personal point of view. My grandma passed away a couple of days ago and it’s been hard. My family wasn’t here, but fortunately I count on a great team and they’ve given me a lot of support throughout the weekend. Leopard is really a family and I can’t thank them enough. I know my grandma would be happy today after my podium, although I wanted to win for her. In any case, this result is very important. We have to keep pushing and working as we’ve been doing up until now, because you never know what your rivals have in their minds so you have to be always ready. My grandma always wanted to see me happy, and this is going to be an extra motivation to give my best. Many thanks to the team, the bike was amazing and super fast, I gave it all”.
Marcos Ramirez #42, 4th in Thailand (136 points)
“The race has gone pretty good, I’ve felt comfortable and the bike was quite fast. I wanted to win and I tried it, I was always touching the podium. I wanted to attack on the last lap to get the victory but another rider has touched me, I ran a little bit wide but fortunately I saved the crash. It’s been a pity because I’ve lost many positions and I finally finished 4th. A disappointment, I wanted to win but we will keep trying. This is racing”.
