The Aragón Grand Prix did not bring the results expected by Jorge Navarro, especially as the young Spaniard put together and amazing performance in qualifying to claim a spot on the front row of the grid for today’s race – on what has been a kind track for him in the past. The 22-year-old was not in perfect condition as he had a health issue during the night and had to pay a visit to the Clinica Mobile in the morning, but still decided to line up on the grid to defend his position.
Unfortunately for him, Jorge had a bad start to the race and moved all the way down to 15thwhen he was forced to take a wider line after being overtaken by Corsi. Once he found his rhythm, Navarro managed to make his way back to tenth place to collect a few important points in what was a very complicated Sunday for him.
Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 will now prepare for the long overseas trip which will begin on October 3rdat Buriram (Thailand).
10th– JORGE NAVARRO #9
“Unfortunately at turn 15 during the opening lap I found myself battling with Corsi. He passed me first, but I knew I was quicker than him so I didn’t want to waste too much time behind him. When I took the wider line to pass him I almost lost the front: I really took a big risk and lost a lot of places. From then on all I could do is to get back together and ride at my pace, which I think it would have allowed me to stay with the leaders today. This top-10 is a so-so result, but we’re still going in the right direction.”
