Sam Lowes’s race comes to an end before the chequered flag at Chang International Circuit with a crash a turn eight with six laps left, which wraps up a weekend that started off in a difficult way and finished even worse – with a low-side crash from which he fortunately escaped unhurt.
Thailand proves not to be very kind to the sole rider of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2, who in two showings has never qualified higher than the fifth row – as well as never scored any point in the races. It will be important to leave this performance behind to focus on the three back-to-back rounds ahead, with Japan next in line in less than 15 days.
DNF. SAM LOWES #22
“Gutted. I Struggled all weekend and that’s not good enough. I made a small mistake in the race trying to miss another rider! We didn’t have a good feeling with the front-end of the bike in the race and we can see from data that the front was working differently so we need to analyse. But it’s not good enough either way and we look forward to Japan to get back like in the previous two races.”
